Kara Lombard brings years of experience in operations, finance, and organizational leadership to her role as Board Treasurer. She previously served as the organization's Director of Operations, where she helped build the financial and operational systems that support New Roots Institute's mission to end factory farming, so she brings a deep understanding of the organization's financial infrastructure and a steady, systems-minded approach to fiscal oversight and governance. Kara is a social scientist by training, earning a B.S. in sociology from Iowa State University, but considers herself a continual learner who is always open to new ways of thinking. In her free time, Kara is a dedicated rescue-dog mom and an enthusiastic gardener and vegan cook.
