Dean holds a B.A. in Political Economy from UC Berkeley, where he helped organize local political campaigns and mobilized students in support of the successful 2019 California fur ban. He later directed a mayoral campaign and worked as a development assistant for a youth nonprofit in Oakland. Most recently, Dean co-founded The Simple Heart Initiative, an impact litigation nonprofit that trained undercover investigators and secured landmark legal victories against factory farms. He lives in San Francisco and is passionate about helping advocates become their most wholehearted and powerful selves. In his free time, you can find him geeking out about meditation, solo travel, drum and guitar circles, and beginner salsa dancing.
